roberta le poidevin
Most of my work is influenced by the landscape in some way. My current pieces focus on the horizon line and cloud formations as I am fortunate that my home has wonderful views of the sky and incoming weather. I am drawn to repeating patterns and incorporate these in my work using stitch, both hand and machine.
The texture of old things, rust and weathering are my second love – I like the unpredictability of breakdown printing and paper lamination to convey this.
I use Procion MX dyes, acrylic paint and oil paint sticks to monoprint, scrape, screenprint and layer colour onto cloth, and tend to work in a muted pallet of grey, blue and green.
